A Gentle Alpine Cheese with Swiss Comfort

Saveur des Alpes is a Swiss mountain-style cheese produced by Fromagerie Moléson, a respected dairy house known for its refined and generous cheeses. Made from lait des prés — milk from cows grazing on rich pastures — and aged for around 6 months, this cheese offers the softness, balance, and aromatic depth that make Swiss alpine cheeses so easy to love.

It is a cheese built around pleasure: smooth texture, mellow flavour, and a beautiful melt-in-the-mouth character.

Terroir and Milk

Produced in Switzerland, Saveur des Alpes reflects the richness of pasture-based milk. The expression lait des prés suggests milk shaped by grass, meadow flowers, and seasonal grazing, giving the cheese a natural sweetness and gentle aromatic complexity.

The milk is transformed with precision, then aged slowly to allow the paste to develop finesse without becoming too strong or too salty.

Production and Affinage

Saveur des Alpes is matured for approximately 6 months, giving it time to develop flavour while keeping a supple, creamy texture. During this period, the cheese is carefully cared for in the cellar, allowing the rind and paste to mature evenly.

This affinage brings balance: enough age to create depth, but not so much that the cheese becomes sharp or overpowering.

Texture and Flavour

Texture:
Smooth, supple, and fondant, with a paste that melts gently on the palate. It has enough structure to slice cleanly, while still feeling creamy and generous.

Flavour:
Mild and rounded at first, with notes of warm milk, butter, fresh hay, and soft alpine nuttiness. As it opens, the flavour becomes more aromatic, with a gentle sweetness and a clean savoury finish.

Aroma:
Delicate and inviting, with hints of meadow grass, cream, and cellar-aged alpine cheese.

Wine:

  • Chasselas
  • Chardonnay
  • Dry Riesling
  • Light Pinot Noir

Food:

  • Crusty bread
  • Fresh apples or pears
  • Roasted nuts
  • Cured ham or mild salami

It also melts beautifully, making it a great option for toasties, gratins, or a soft alpine-style raclette.
