Hanging up our aprons

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided not to renew our lease and to close Harper & Blohm Cheese Shop after 8 years.

This hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but for us, 2022 has proved to be the most challenging year yet. The ongoing disruptions caused by the inconsistent supply of products, ongoing price increases, lack of foot traffic on Sydney Road and the general level of uncertainty in the market, have created the perfect storm for us. The relentless stress of working in daily crisis management mode for 2.5 years has also proven to be too great and has taken a heavy toll on our physical & mental health. 

From the outset, we have prided ourselves on doing business in the way that we love, providing our customers with a level of service & a range of products that we are proud to serve. We value authenticity, provenance, sustainable, and ethically sound practices – both from our suppliers and in how we operate.

The perfectionist in me has always set the bar at HIGH and we like to do things ‘properly’, even if it takes a bit more time. But doing business this way has stretched our capacity to be viable and has become unsustainable.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all the cheesemongers (past & present) for their hard work, passion & dedication over the years.

And a heartfelt thank you to all our loyal customers – near & far – for your continued support for the past 8 years through all the ups & downs. Too many highlights to mention, but we’ve enjoyed getting to know you, and your cheese preferences, along the way.

And to our suppliers – great & small – thanks for bringing us a fantastic range of products to share.

Our plan is for shop front is to close at the end of August and the last deliveries from the online store will be after Father’s Day in September.

Monthly subscription customers 

Our last Subscription will be going out at the beginning of September. If your subscription extends further, we would be happy to provide you with a store credit to use in August or we can increase the value of your order in September.

Alternatively, we can credit any remaining months in full. Please get in touch via hello@harperandblohm.com and let us know what option you would like to choose.

Gift Vouchers –

We are no longer selling Gift Vouchers. Any outstanding vouchers can be redeemed in store or online until we close.
